New workshop rolling equipment

16 September 2018 | On Saturday 15 September 2018 we officially opened our brand new workshop at MPET where all rolling equipment will be maintained as from now. With a height of 26m and a length of 105m, this new workshop offers space for the maintenance of 24 straddle carriers simultaneously. It is one of the largest of its kind. The total investment amounts to around 18 million euros.

For this occasion, some 400 guests, including our own technicians accompanied by their family and a number of recruitment agencies and schools, were invited to a grand welcome reception in the new building.

The garage has state of the art equipment, such as a sophisticated distribution system for oil, cooling water, compressed air and grease, a nitrogen generator for inflating tires, six rolling bridges, a welding workshop and five storage lifts for optimal use of the available space. In addition, a training room was installed to organize internal and in-service training.

Also the environment was taken into consideration. For example, all electricity is taken from a wind farm on the Belgian coast.  Our own environmental park was set up for the sorting and recycling of waste materials and tools, such as forklifts and scissorlifts, are gradually being switched from diesel engines to electric motors. In addition, the new workshop has its own water treatment plant, where rainwater is recovered to use for the steaming of straddle carriers in the two dedicated car wash boxes.

Approximately 130 employees will be deployed in the new garage.
