PSA launches new 'log handling concept' in the Port of Antwerp

17 July 2020 | Despite the challenging times for the breakbulk sector, PSA is launching a new and ambitious ‘log handling concept’ at Churchill terminal, quay 410, in the Port of Antwerp. The site has been redesigned for large-scale log handling, where logs are handled both containerized and conventionally, at one single concession. This is unique for PSA in Antwerp, but also for the Port of Antwerp as a whole, as this type of cargo has never been handled in Antwerp, in this manner.

The new log handling service has been set-up in close collaboration by PSA Antwerp and PSA Breakbulk and is completely in line with our global 'Cargo Solutions' strategy, in which we want to further expand our services as a cargo handler and set-up tailor-made partnerships within the supply chain.

Attracting this new type of cargo to Antwerp is a positive message for the Port of Antwerp and the Antwerp breakbulk sector. Because, in addition to the handling of logs, also added value is created in the field of CFS activities, fumigation and other operations that can be offered directly on-site.

With this new unique log handling concept, PSA establishes a positive story in a challenging period for the breakbulk sector. It underlines Antwerp’s can-do mentality and proves that anything is possible in the Port of Antwerp.
