Colleagues Making a Difference for a Good Cause
Our family consists of 3,900 employees. Each one an expert in their field, dedicated every day to getting thousands of containers on their way to their final destination. But there are also many employees who, outside of work, actively support those who are struggling. And we, as a company, want to acknowledge and support this effort.
2020 was a special year, with a lot of remote work and the search for a new 'normal'.
Being there for each other and for the community is one of the values we hold dear within our PSA/MPET/ATS family.
Despite many initiatives being unable to take place, we once again allocated part of our Corporate Social Responsibility budget this year to various charitable causes.
Every PSA, MPET, and ATS employee has the opportunity to nominate a social cause, project, or organization they are involved with for financial support. To be eligible, the organization or project must meet the following conditions:
- Based locally (Antwerp or Zeebrugge)
- Clear social objectives
- A broad target audience
- Active involvement of the employee or their family member
This year, from all the submissions, 11 organizations were selected. Each of these organizations was awarded a budget to support their initiatives.
The selected organizations and projects for 2020 are:
- WaW Make it Work: A social employment project supporting vulnerable youth in their search for work.
- Soesa Huis8: Provides psychological therapy for young people and families with limited financial resources.
- Bond Onze Scholen Blankenberge: Provides moral, material, and educational support to disadvantaged children.
- Pinocchio: Offers financial support for children and young people with burn injuries.
- Elegast: Provides opportunities and support for children in foster care to grow personally and integrate into society.
- Football Girls Leuven: A social football project for (vulnerable) girls, based on the core values of diversity, solidarity, and friendship.
- Berrefonds: Supports parents who lose a child during/just before/after birth, creating “memory boxes” for them.
- SAR K9: Provides training for rescue dogs and handlers to search for missing persons.
- Fonds9150: Supports underprivileged children and their families through social awareness campaigns, Christmas brunches, and organizing holidays, etc.
- Kom Op Tegen Kanker: Raises funds for cancer research by participating in the 1,000km bike and walk event.
