PSA Antwerp & MPET receive EU certification for highest Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status

2 February 2017 | PSA Antwerp and MSC PSA European Terminal (MPET) have obtained the ‘Authorized   Economic Operator - Full’ authorization, the highest level under EU’s Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program to enhance international Supply Chain security and facilitate legitimate trade.

The AEO authorization is awarded by Customs to reliable internationally active companies which are compliant with the highest safety and security standards in their operations and contacts with international customers.

All terminals operated by PSA Antwerp and MPET have all along been certified under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code, which means that they have been identified as ensuring the security of the International Supply Chain. Therefore, all containers and goods handled on these terminals can benefit from the facilitations and/or a more favorable treatment granted to shippers, carriers and other economic operators which have also been AEO certified.

PSA Antwerp’s and MPET’s AEO ‘Full’ authorization will provide possibilities to allow additional simplifications under contractual agreements, such as e.g. the ‘movement of containers in temporary storage’. This type of simplification will allow movement of a container without the requirement to fulfill the usual customs formalities for ‘placing goods under a customs procedure’.

Upon request, PSA Antwerp and MPET shall be glad to examine all commercial requests for movements of containers under a simplified procedure, under the best possible and most economic conditions.
