Job Booth with VR technology

20 March 2019 | You’re standing on a 50 meter-high quay crane, in the Port of Antwerp, on the largest container terminal of Europe. Right in front of you, a gigantic containership sails by. Containers in every color are being loaded and unloaded around you. In the corner of your eye, your colleague is working on the electric wiring of the crane. ‘I can get used to this view’, is what you are thinking out loud.  You enter the workshop. A technician is working on a straddle carrier. When you turn around, you're standing in the crane control room: your colleague has already started adjusting the brakes. ‘Will you become our new colleague?’ - the VR simulation ends and you are back in the PSA/MPET/ATS job booth.

In our brand new job booth, students can go through this experience “for real” with virtual reality. Some have already experienced this VR tour at recent job fairs at the Thomas More, KdG and AP colleges. And they loved it. It was not only the VR experience that caused smiles, also the hilarious movements students made with VR glasses on received enthusiastic attention.

We will continue to surprise students with this VR technology at the upcoming large job fairs. With this concept, we hope to make more millennials enthusiastic about working in the port of Antwerp.
After the job fairs, the VR glasses will be available for visitors and applicants at the PSA head office. Also at events such as the Flemish Port Day, visitors can enjoy this spectacular experience.
