8 June 2022 | As COVID-19 restrictions begin to wind down, over 100 colleagues from PSA | MPET | ATS took the rare opportunity to meet in person and participated in the Antwerp 10 Miles running event, an annual affair that takes its participants through Antwerp’s city centre.

Held on a beautiful Spring afternoon on 24 April, the event saw more than 30,000 runners and crowds of enthusiastic spectators participating. Our PSA | MPET | ATS colleagues were decked out in their running gear, breaking personal records while Being There and Playing with their colleagues.

The PSA | MPET | ATS runners were not alone, having been accompanied by 10 participants from the Antwerp City Pirates, an Antwerp-based social soccer project that seeks to give youths a more stable future. Its credo, ‘Football is the engine, social engagement is the fuel, diversity is the strength’, speaks of its efforts to direct the kids’ energies into soccer and bring them into an inclusive and healthy social community.

At the event, PSA | MPET | ATS was able to Make their Day by increasing its visibility and raising €5,000 for the Antwerp City Pirates, which will be used in the purchase of new soccer uniforms and shoes. This is in addition to their previous donations to the initiative, which included laptops and school supplies, on top of supporting the initiative’s digital classes, music and dance workshops and tutoring efforts.

The activities didn’t just end there. On 5 May, our PSA Belgium colleagues also hosted and competed in the PSA Cup 2022. Using facilities courtesy of professional Belgian football club ‘Waasland-Beveren’, our representative team ‘Antwerp Europe Terminal (AET)’ played against teams composed of both partners and competitors situated in the Antwerp harbour. The PSA | MPET | ATS team ended their run in the semi-finals, and the day ended with high spirits.

The PSA | MPET | ATS team also competed the day after in the fifth rendition of the ‘FORWARD Cup’, organised by Young FORWARD Belgium, an organisation focusing on the development of young professionals working in logistics.
