PSA Breakbulk Receives 'Baltic Eagle': A Giant Offshore Power Hub

PSA Breakbulk welcomed the Baltic Eagle yesterday at its Project Cargo Ecosystem Terminal at Churchill Dock. This event serves as a prime example of how PSA Breakbulk supports the connection between port operations and industrial business development. The company is providing terminal handling services necessary for engineering works and the supply of materials for approximately 100 contractors.

This enormous offshore platform, weighing 4,550 tons and spanning five stories, will be further assembled over the next two weeks in collaboration with Equans, Manora Logistics, and PSA Breakbulk, under the commission of Elia. After assembly, the platform will continue its journey to the Baltic Sea.

Once deployed at its destination, the platform will collect offshore wind energy from nearby wind turbines. It will be connected to the German high-voltage grid in Lubmin via two 90-kilometer-long underwater high-voltage cables. The wind power installation will supply clean, renewable energy to as many as half a million households.

Through this ambitious sustainability project, PSA Breakbulk is contributing to the advancement of local high-end industrial partners and the energy transition.
