Alongside the community

At PSA, we firmly believe in the social role we have to play within our local communities. We provide financial and/or logistical support to a variety of social projects, be they large or small.  Over the years, we have built mutually beneficial long-term relationships, championing projects close to the hearts of our people.

Numerous projects and organizations are dear to us. Since 2017, we chose to really make a difference through a single social goal: supporting and helping children and youngsters in precarious conditions.

Together, we can make a difference!

CSR Highlights

Each year, PSA launches the annual Go Green Fortnight, a Group-wide green initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and action within our global family. During this period, all PSA companies and staff around the world are encouraged to contribute towards creating environmentally-friendly work communities.

For the third consecutive year, PSA participated in the “1000km van Kom op tegen Kanker” cycling event with eight enthusiastic cyclists. The intention of this event is to raise money for the cancer foundation, which distributes the received donations to several purposes: diagnosis and therapy of residual tumor cells with as aim to increase the survival chances and enhance the quality of life of cancer patients.

PSA Antwerp preserves a part of the CSR budget to support social projects in which PSA staff is actively involved. Each year, all employees are given the opportunity to present a social cause or project that meets the demands for this type of sponsorship (locally focussed, clear social objectives, wide target group and active involvement of the employee).

From all the entries received, five projects are selected and awarded 500 euros each, to support the operations and execution of the project.

Antwerp's largest terminal operators join hands to support GO GREEN, a campaign from Global Ports Group in which the largest players in the global port community are represented.

PSA Antwerp / MPET and DP World will jointly set up a campaign focussing on ECO-driving. Additionally, the terminal operators jointly planted a tree, which represented the symbolic start of the 'Plant a Tree'-action. With this initiative, PSA Antwerp / MPET will offer a tree to all employees to plant at home.

PSA Antwerp sponsored a solo art exhibition called ‘Alongside’, by Belgian artist Daisy Boman.

For almost a month, the lobby of the PSA Antwerp HQ served as a public exposition space, open to visitors from Monday till Friday during office hours. It was a joy for employees working alongside these great artworks!

Since 2012, PSA Antwerp has been partner to the ‘New Belgica’; a social project whereby unemployed youngsters are given training and employment opportunities by building a museum replica of the original ‘Belgica’ sailing vessel. With our support, materials are purchased and recruitment and training is organized.

In addition, our employees are actively involved and are given the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the building process through several initiatives and construction yard visits.

The Elephant Parade is an international organization that raises money to save the Asian elephant, which is threatened with extinction. They do this by organising outdoor exhibitions. Artists and famous residents of the city or region, decorate statues of elephants that are exhibited on the streets.
After the exhibition, the artworks are auctioned. All profits go to the organization and the rescue of elephants.
